Definition
Mold (or mould) refers to a type of fungus that grows in the form of multicellular filaments called hyphae. π It thrives in damp and humid conditions. You might see it as fuzzy patches on food or surfaces. Unlike bacteria, mold is a eukaryotic organism. Some molds are beneficial (like those used in cheesemaking!), but others can be harmful, causing allergic reactions or respiratory problems. Proper ventilation and moisture control are essential for preventing mold growth.
