Definition
Monarchic describes something related to a monarchy, a form of government where a single person (king, queen, emperor) is the head of state. Think of the kingdoms in "Game of Thrones" or the historical monarchies of Europe. It suggests a hierarchical structure with power concentrated in one individual, often inherited. It stands in contrast to democratic or republican systems. Monarchic systems can be absolute (ruler has unlimited power) or constitutional (ruler's power is limited by law). This contrasts sharply with other systems of government.
