Definition
A "mummichog" is a small killifish (Fundulus heteroclitus) found in estuaries and salt marshes along the Atlantic coast of North America. They are remarkably tolerant of pollution, varying salinity levels, and extreme temperatures. Mummichogs are often used as model organisms in scientific research due to their hardiness. Think of them as the aquatic cockroaches of the East Coast. ๐ These fish are seriously tough.
