Nicola Amati (1596-1684) was a renowned Italian luthier from Cremona. He was the grandson of Andrea Amati, the founder of the Amati family of violin makers. Nicola significantly advanced the design and construction of violins. He is famous for his 'Grand Amati' model, which became a standard for future luthiers. He trained influential violin makers like Antonio Stradivari and Andrea Guarneri. His instruments are highly prized for their exceptional tone and craftsmanship. He is considered one of the most important figures in the history of violin making.
