Oregon myrtle is an evergreen tree (*Umbellularia californica*) native to the Pacific coast. Also called California bay laurel, its leaves have a strong, distinctive aroma. They're used sparingly as a culinary herb, stronger than typical bay leaves. The tree produces small, yellowish flowers and olive-like fruits.
