"Peanut worm" is the common name for members of the Phylum Sipuncula. They get this name from their resemblance to peanuts when their bodies are contracted. These worms are marine animals found in diverse ocean environments. They play a role in sediment turnover and nutrient cycling. Imagine them as the gardeners of the sea floor, constantly tilling the soil. They are not actually related to peanuts; it's just a visual similarity.
