Definition
A "percussionist" is a musician who plays percussion instruments, such as drums, cymbals, xylophones, and maracas. They provide the rhythmic foundation and add color and texture to music. Think of a drummer in a rock band or a timpanist in an orchestra. It requires a strong sense of rhythm, coordination, and creativity. Percussionists are essential in almost every genre of music, from classical to jazz to pop.
