Pilot whales are medium-sized toothed whales that are actually oceanic dolphins, belonging to the genus *Globicephala*. They are known for their distinctive bulbous foreheads and strong social bonds, living in pods of tens to hundreds of individuals. These whales are highly intelligent and communicate using a variety of vocalizations. There are two main species: the long-finned and short-finned pilot whale.
