A 'polo pony' isn't a specific breed, but rather a horse trained and used in the sport of polo. Despite the name, they are usually full-sized horses, often Thoroughbreds or Thoroughbred crosses, standing around 15 to 16 hands high. They require exceptional agility, speed, and stamina to perform well in a polo match. Polo ponies are highly trained athletes. Think of them as Formula 1 race cars, tuned for peak performance and quick maneuvers.
