Definition
Ptolemy (Claudius Ptolemaeus) was a Greco-Roman mathematician, astronomer, geographer, astrologer, and music theorist who lived in Alexandria, Egypt, during the Roman era. He's famous for his geocentric model of the universe (Earth at the center), which was the standard view for over 1400 years. π Think of him as the ultimate influencer of his time! Ptolemy also made significant contributions to cartography, creating detailed maps. His work, while not entirely accurate by modern standards, was incredibly influential. He also made contributions to optics and music theory. πΆ
