Definition
Puppy love is a term for the often intense, but usually temporary, feelings of affection experienced during childhood or adolescence. It's the innocent and somewhat naive crush you might have on someone in elementary or middle school. It's characterized by its intensity, but also its lack of deep understanding or commitment. Think of it as obsessing over a celebrity or having a huge crush on the cute classmate who sits next to you in science. It is generally short-lived and based on superficial qualities or fleeting interests. It's a cute and often amusing experience, but not the same as mature, lasting love. Puppy love can teach you about your own feelings and what you might look for in future relationships.
