"Redbelly" usually refers to the red-bellied cooter (Pseudemys rubriventris), a species of freshwater turtle. They are called redbelly due to their vibrant red or orange plastron (lower shell). These turtles are primarily herbivorous, feeding on aquatic plants. Redbellies are found in the eastern United States, inhabiting rivers, lakes, and ponds with plenty of vegetation.
