The saphenous vein is a large vein running along the length of the leg, all the way from the foot to the groin. It's actually the longest vein in the body! Think of it as a major highway for blood returning from your leg to your heart. There are two saphenous veins: the great saphenous vein and the small saphenous vein. These veins are superficial, meaning they are closer to the skin's surface. Sometimes they can become varicose veins, which look like twisted, bulging cords under the skin. 🦵
