A sea squirt, also known as an ascidian, is a marine invertebrate. It is characterized by a sac-like body and a tough outer tunic. They are filter feeders, drawing water in through an inhalant siphon and expelling it through an exhalant siphon. Most sea squirts are sessile as adults, attaching to rocks or other surfaces. These creatures are essentially living water filters. They are weird and cool chordates.
