Definition
A sex-limited trait is a characteristic expressed only in one sex, even though the gene might be present in both. This happens because of hormonal or anatomical differences between males and females. For example, beard growth in humans is sex-limited to males because females have lower levels of testosterone. Similarly, milk production is sex-limited to females due to mammary glands and hormones. The gene is there, but it's only 'switched on' in one gender. ๐น๐บ
