Definition
Sex-linked refers to genes located on either the X or Y chromosome (sex chromosomes). Since males have XY and females have XX, inheritance patterns differ. Sex-linked traits often appear more frequently in males because they only have one X chromosome. This means a single recessive gene on the X chromosome will show up, whereas females need two copies. Color blindness and hemophilia are classic examples of sex-linked conditions. It's all about the chromosomes! 🧬
