Definition
The sharptail mola (Masturus lanceolatus) is a species of sunfish, closely related to the ocean sunfish. They share the same flattened, disc-like body shape. However, they are distinguished by a pointed projection on their pseudo-tail. This gives them the "sharptail" name. They are large, bony fish. They are found in tropical and subtropical oceans. They eat primarily jellyfish and plankton.
