Definition
The shoulder girdle, also known as the pectoral girdle, is the set of bones in the human body that connects the upper limbs to the axial skeleton π¦΄. It includes the clavicle (collarbone) and the scapula (shoulder blade). Think of it as the foundation for your arms, giving them a wide range of motion. It is less stable compared to the pelvic girdle but much more flexible. The shoulder girdle facilitates movements like reaching, lifting, and throwing. It provides the articulation point for the humerus (upper arm bone).
