Definition
The Soviet Union (officially the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics or USSR) was a communist state spanning much of Eurasia from 1922 to 1991. It was a union of several Soviet republics under a centralized government. Think of it as a giant, multi-ethnic empire built on communist principles. It dissolved after years of economic stagnation and political turmoil. The fall of the Soviet Union reshaped the world order. 🌍
