Definition
A tabernacle is a portable dwelling place for a deity, often used by nomadic or traveling peoples. In the Bible, the Tabernacle was a portable sanctuary used by the Israelites during their wanderings in the desert. It housed the Ark of the Covenant and served as a central place of worship. In some Christian traditions, a tabernacle is a receptacle for the consecrated Eucharist. Think of it as a divine RV, always ready to move with its people.
