Definition
A thermal resistor is a component whose electrical resistance changes with its temperature. It's very similar to a thermistor and the terms are often used interchangeably. These resistors are employed in temperature sensing, compensation, and control circuits. They can be either positive temperature coefficient (PTC), where resistance increases with temperature, or negative temperature coefficient (NTC), where resistance decreases with temperature. They provide a simple, reliable way to monitor and respond to temperature variations. Think of it as a temperature-dependent valve for electricity.
