Tongue worms, scientifically known as Pentastomida, are parasitic crustaceans inhabiting the respiratory tracts of reptiles, birds, and mammals. They are worm-like in appearance, despite being arthropods. Tongue worms attach to their host using hooks, feeding on blood and tissue. They have a complex life cycle often involving multiple hosts. These parasites lack respiratory and circulatory systems, absorbing nutrients directly. These guys are NOT the kind of worms you want to find! 😖
