Definition
Triiodomethane is another name for iodoform. It's a yellow crystalline solid known for its distinct odor and previous use as an antiseptic. Essentially, triiodomethane and iodoform are the same compound, like calling water 'dihydrogen monoxide' in chemistry class. Its antiseptic properties are due to the release of iodine. Though once a common disinfectant, it's now less frequently used. Safer and more effective alternatives are preferred.
