Definition
A "Uniate Christian" is essentially the same as a "Greek Catholic" or "Eastern Catholic." The term refers to members of Eastern Christian churches that were formerly part of the Eastern Orthodox or Oriental Orthodox traditions but have since entered into communion with the Roman Catholic Church. They recognize the Pope as their head while retaining their distinct liturgical rites and customs. Like "Uniat," this term is often considered outdated and sometimes offensive, so "Eastern Catholic" is preferred. It's all about using respectful language.
