'Unsyllabic' describes something that doesn't form a syllable or cannot be divided into syllables. Technically, it's the opposite of 'syllabled.' In linguistics, it refers to sounds that don't function as the core of a syllable. It's not a common term because pretty much everything we say *can* be broken down into syllables. Think of it as a sound that's missing its vowel anchor; without that anchor, it can't form its own island.
