Vapor pressure is the pressure exerted by a vapor in thermodynamic equilibrium with its condensed phases (solid or liquid) at a given temperature in a closed system. Essentially, it's how eager a liquid is to become a gas. The higher the vapor pressure, the more easily a liquid evaporates. Think of it like a crowded dance floor: if lots of people are trying to leave (evaporate), the 'pressure' to get out is high. It dictates how quickly something like perfume dissipates or how readily gasoline evaporates on a hot day.
