Vena jugularis is the Latin term for the jugular vein, a major vein in the neck that drains blood from the head. There are two sets of jugular veins, internal and external, draining different parts of the head and neck. This vein carries deoxygenated blood back to the heart. It is essential for maintaining proper circulation in the head and preventing buildup of pressure. Its role is to ensure the brain receives and discards the blood it needs to work.
