Definition
A wart is a small, usually painless growth on the skin caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Warts are contagious and can spread through direct contact. They often have a rough texture and can appear on various parts of the body, most commonly the hands and feet. Think of it as a tiny, unwanted skin guest. While warts are generally harmless, they can be bothersome and sometimes unsightly. They are not life-threatening, but can be socially awkward. Over-the-counter treatments or medical procedures can remove them.
