Definition
A 'washboard' is a corrugated board, usually made of wood and metal, used for washing clothes by hand. You rub the clothes against the corrugated surface with soap and water to remove dirt. It's a manual laundry tool, a pre-electric washing machine. Unlike a modern washing machine, a washboard requires physical effort. Itβs a symbol of a simpler time, before automated appliances. Think of it as the original stain remover. π
