Definition
The western tanager is a striking bird found in western North America. Males have bright yellow bodies, red heads, and black wings and tails, while females have duller yellow and green plumage. They belong to the genus Piranga and family Thraupidae. These birds migrate from Canada to Mexico and Central America. Their diet consists of insects, fruits, and nectar.
