Definition
A "wicket-keeper" is a specialized player in cricket who stands behind the wicket (the three stumps) to catch balls that the batsman misses. Their main job is to prevent runs and dismiss batsmen by catching them out or stumping them. They wear padded gloves and leg guards to protect themselves from the fast-moving ball. Think of them as the goalie in soccer or the catcher in baseball. They need quick reflexes, excellent hand-eye coordination, and a good understanding of the game. π
