Definition
A 'wine steward' (or 'wine waiter') is a staff member in a restaurant who specializes in serving wine. Their duties include taking wine orders, presenting bottles, opening and pouring wine, and ensuring proper serving temperatures. They provide knowledgeable service and enhance the dining experience for guests. Although similar to a sommelier, they may have less specialized knowledge. Think of them as the wine specialists on the serving team. They focus primarily on wine service.
