Definition
A wolf spider is a member of the family Lycosidae, known for their hunting prowess and lack of reliance on webs. These spiders actively pursue their prey, using their speed and agility to capture insects and other small creatures. They are found in a wide variety of habitats around the world. Female wolf spiders are known for carrying their egg sacs attached to their spinnerets. After hatching, the spiderlings ride on their mother's back for a period of time. Their hunting style is similar to that of a wolf.
