Definition
Wood anemone, also known as windflower, is a delicate spring wildflower found in European woodlands. It's characterized by its white, star-shaped flowers and deeply divided leaves. These flowers often form a carpet on the forest floor. It spreads through underground rhizomes. The plant emerges early in the spring. Unlike some larger plants, it is subtle and delicate. It thrives in deciduous woodlands before the trees fully leaf out.
