Cetonia aurata, commonly known as the rose chafer or green rose chafer, is a species of beetle belonging to the scarab beetle family. It's easily recognizable by its bright metallic green coloration. These beetles are frequently found on flowers, particularly roses, where they feed on pollen and nectar. Cetonia aurata plays a minor role in pollination. The larvae of Cetonia aurata develop in decaying wood and compost. These beetles are widespread throughout Europe and parts of Asia. They are generally considered harmless to humans.
