Definition
A crested swift is a type of tree swift known for its prominent crest of feathers on its head. These birds belong to the Hemiprocnidae family. Like other tree swifts, they often perch on trees, a behavior that distinguishes them from true swifts. Crested swifts are skilled fliers and insectivores, catching their prey on the wing. They build small nests, gluing them to tree branches. They are found primarily in Southeast Asia and Australasia. Their crest gives them a very distinctive look compared to other swifts.
