Definition
A tree swift is a type of bird belonging to the family Hemiprocnidae. Unlike typical swifts that spend almost their entire lives in the air, tree swifts frequently perch on trees. They have crests and longer tails than their swift cousins. These birds build tiny nests, often gluing them to the sides of tree branches using saliva. They are found mainly in Southeast Asia and Australasia. Tree swifts are adept at catching insects while flying, like other swifts.
