Definition
Liliidae is an obsolete botanical subclass within the class Magnoliopsida (the dicotyledons). This classification system is outdated and no longer widely used in modern plant taxonomy. It included various families of flowering plants, such as the lily family (Liliaceae). Plants classified within Liliidae often had parallel-veined leaves and flower parts in multiples of three. Think of Liliidae as an old map of the plant kingdom, interesting from a historical perspective but not entirely accurate today. 🗺️
