A pivot joint is a type of synovial joint that allows for rotational movement. Think of it like a doorknob or the way your head rotates. Itβs formed when a bony cylinder fits into a bony ring, allowing one bone to rotate around another. This arrangement offers a limited range of motion, primarily allowing for pronation and supination or rotation. Compared to a ball-and-socket joint, its movement is far more constrained.
